Ali Ibn Abi Talib (PBUH) (Arabic: علی بن أبی طالب) was the cousin and son-in-law of the prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Imam Ali (PBUH) was also the first man who accepted Islam. Sunnis consider Imam Ali the fourth and final Caliph , but Shia – according to the prophet’s will- believe Ali (PBUH) is the first Imam (leaser, successor) after Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and consider him and his descendants the rightful successors to Prophet Muhammad, all of whom are members of the Ahl Al-Bayt. This disagreement split the Ummah (Muslim community) into the Sunni and Shia branches.

Prophet Muhammad, the mercy and blessings of Allah (God) be upon him, is the man beloved by Muslims and many of non-Muslims.  He is the man who taught us patience in the face of adversity, and taught us to live in this world but seek eternal life in the hereafter.  It was to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that God revealed the Quran.  Along with this Book of guidance God sent Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) whose behavior and high moral standards are an example to us all. When Muslims declare their faith in One God, they also declare their belief that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the final messenger of Allah (God).

The coming of the Son of man 

Matthew 24:15-35

29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken; 30 then will appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory; 31 and he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. 32 "From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates. 34 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away till all these things take place. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but MY WORDs will not pass away.

Today is the 2nd night of Moharram.

On the 2nd day of Moharram, Husayn's caravan reached Kerbala. Thousands of Yazid's soldiers were already there, having arrived long before the Imam.



The small tribe living in Kerbala gathered around Husayn's caravan. Imam Husayn enquired about the price of the land in Kerbala. He then bought the entire land.

Then, he first spoke to the menfolk of the tribe.



"O, menfolk of Kerbala! We have not come here to fight. Yazid's soldiers will fight with us and we will be killed. They will not bury our bodies and our bodies will be left to the wild animals of the desert. I request a favour from you. Please, bury our bodies.



Imam Husayn then turned to the womenfolk of the tribe.



"Ladies of Kerbala! Your menfolk, out of fear of Yazid's soldiers might not bury our bodies. Ladies! When your men are working in the fields, please come out of your houses and bury our bodies.



Somehow Imam Husayn did not feel the men nor the women would carry out his request.



Sadly, he turned to the children who had gathered and spoke gently to them.

Children! If your father or your mother are unable to bury us, I beg you to throw a fistful of sand over our bodies while you are playing in the fields. That way, children, our bodies will slowly get buried."

Then, he turned to everyone who had gathered around and spoke again.

"My second request to you all is to look after the people who will come to visit our graves after our death. They will be my guests so please look after them and feed them for three days."


"HUSAYN! MOHARRAM! KERBALA! ASHURA! MARSHIAS! NAWHAS! TABOOT! ALAM! MASHK! MATAM!"


Ashura day is the most tragic day for all Muslims, in particular Shi'as.

THE DAY OF ASHURA…

The day, when 72 brave and faithful men were martyred… The day of great sacrifice… The day Islam was saved from destruction.
Ashura came to the land of Kerbala.

Yazid's men blew the trumpets to start the battle.

The battle began.

Allaho Akber! Our poor Imam……..With a thousand wounds…Bleeding…Blood gushing out of the wounds.

Hussein said: DeaD iS BeTTeR THaNBRiNGiNG SHaMe aND DiSHoNoR


Shimr, the most evil of Yazid's men, walked to Imam Husayn. He had a big dagger in his hand. Imam made a request to him.' "O Shimr, I know your intention. I beg of you to give me a little time to do two sajdah."

Husayn did the first sajdah on the MUSALLAH OF ARROWS:

"O ALLAH! ALL PRAISE IS TO YOU AND YOU ALONE!"

Husayn lifted his head and went down to perform his second sajdah.

Shimr did not let Imam Husayn lift his head from this last sajdah.

The earth trembled. The sky turned black.

Jibrael cried out:
"HUSAYN HAS BEEN KILLED IN KERBALA!HUSAYN HAS BEEN KILLED IN KERBALA!

(Imam Musa Al-Kathim (a.s

Imam Musa Al-Kathim (a.s.) was born in Abwa (a place between Mecca and Madina). It is here that Bibi Amina (Prophet Muhammad's (S.A.W.) mother) is buried. Imam was born when his parents were returning from Mecca. As soon as he was born he did Sajda reciting Kalima and bearing witness to the Imaamate of all the other Imams including his own.

Childhood 
He is one of the Imams whose miracles in childhood are reported extensively. Imam Ja'fer As-Sadiq (A.S.) repeatedly pointed out Imam Musa Al-Kathim (a.s.) as his successor because he knew of the people who after his death would differ.
(N.B. The Ismailis say Ismail (Imams eldest son who died whilst Imam Ja'fer Sadiq (a.s.) was still alive) was the 7th Imam. One of the 6th Imam's other sons - Abdullah also claimed Imaamate.) Yaqub Al-Saraaj visited the 6th Imam once who told him to greet 
his son Musa who was a week old in his cradle. Imam Musa replied to the salaam and told Yaqub to change his daughters name 
(Humayra) as it was a name not liked by Allah.

الإمام علیّ علیه السلام : أکرِم ضَیفَکَ وإن کانَ حَقیرًا، وقُم عَن مَجلِسِکَ لِأَبیکَ ومُعَلِّمِکَ وإن کُنتَ أمیرًا؛

Imam ‘Ali (a.s) said: Honor your guest even if he is lowly, and stand up for your father and your teacher even if you are a commander.

۶۷۲۱.رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه علیه وآله : إنّ لِکُلِّ شَجَرَةٍ ثَمَرَةً ، وثَمَرَةُ القَلبِ الوَلَدُ .^۱

۶۷۲۱.The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'For every tree there is a fruit and the fruit of the heart is the child.'^۲

۶۷۲۲.الإمامُ زینُ العابدینَ علیه السلام : مِن سَعادَةِ الرّجُلِ أن یَکونَ لَهُ وُلْدٌ یَستَعینُ بِهِم .^۳

۶۷۲۲. Imam Zayn al-Abidin (AS) said, 'It is part of the prosperity of a man that he has offspring who can be an aid to him.' ^۴

۶۷۲۳.الإمامُ الباقرُ علیه السلام : مِن سَعادَةِ الرّجُلِ أن یَکونَ لَهُ الوَلَدُ یَعرِفُ فیهِ شِبهَهُ : خَلقَهُ ، وخُلقَهُ ، وشَمائلَهُ .^۵

۶۷۲۳.Imam al-Baqir (AS) said, 'It is part of the prosperity of a man that he has a child wherein he can see his own likeness: in his looks, his character, and his virtues.' ^۶

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْکِ یَا بِنْتَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ	alssal¡mu `alayki y¡ binta ras£li all¡hi	Peace be upon you, O daughter of the Messenger of Allah.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْکِ یَا بِنْتَ نَبِیِّ ٱللَّهِ	alssal¡mu `alayki y¡ binta nabiyyi all¡hi	Peace be upon you, O daughter of the Prophet of Allah.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْکِ یَا بِنْتَ حَبِیبِ ٱللَّهِ	alssal¡mu `alayki y¡ binta ¦ab¢bi all¡hi	Peace be upon you, O daughter of the most beloved of Allah.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْکِ یَا بِنْتَ امِینِ ٱللَّهِ	alssal¡mu `alayki y¡ binta am¢ni all¡hi	Peace be upon you, O daughter of the Trustee of Allah.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْکِ یَا بِنْتَ خَیْرِ خَلْقِ ٱللَّهِ	alssal¡mu `alayki y¡ binta khayri khalqi all¡hi	Peace be upon you, O daughter of the best of Allah’s creatures.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْکِ یَا بِنْتَ افْضَلِ انْبِیَاءِ ٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِ وَمَلاَئِکَتِهِ	alssal¡mu `alayki y¡ binta af¤ali anbiy¡'i all¡hi wa rusulih¢ wa mal¡'ikatih¢	Peace be upon you, O daughter of the best of Allah’s Prophets, Messengers, and angels.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْکِ یَا بِنْتَ خَیْرِ ٱلْبَرِّیَةِ	alssal¡mu `alayki y¡ binta khayri albariyyati	Peace be upon you, O daughter of the best of all created beings.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْکِ یَا سِیِّدَةَ نِسَاءِ ٱلْعَالَمینَ	alssal¡mu `alayki y¡ sayyidata nis¡'i al`¡lam¢na	Peace be upon you, O doyenne of all women of the world,
مِنَ ٱلاوَّلِینَ وَٱلآخِرِینَ	min al-awwal¢na wal-¡khir¢na	including the past and the coming generations.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْکِ یَا زَوْجَةَ وَلِیِّ ٱللَّهِ	alssal¡mu `alayki y¡ zawjata waliyyi all¡hi	Peace be upon you, O lady of the Intimate Servant of Allah
وَخَیْرِ ٱلْخَلْقِ بَعْدَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ	wa khayri alkhalqi ba`da ras£li all¡hi	and the best of all created beings after the Messenger of Allah.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْکِ یَا امَّ ٱلْحَسَنِ وَٱلْحُسَیْنِ	alssal¡mu `alayki y¡ umma al¦asani wal¦usayni	Peace be upon you, O mother of al-°asan and al-°usayn,
سَیِّدَیْ شَبَابِ اهْلِ ٱلْجَنَّةِ	sayyiday shab¡bi ahli aljannati	the two chiefs of the youth of Paradise.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْکِ ایَّتُهَا ٱلصِّدِّیقَةُ ٱلشَّهِیدَةُ	alssal¡mu `alayki ayyatuh¡ al¥¥idd¢qatu alshshah¢datu	Peace be upon you, O veracious and martyr.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْکِ ایَّتُهَا ٱلرَّضِیَّةُ ٱلْمَرْضِیَّةُ	alssal¡mu `alayki ayyatuh¡ alrra¤iyyatu almar¤iyyatu	Peace be upon you, O content and pleased.
اَلسلاَمُ علَیْکِ ایَّتُهَا ٱلْفَاضِلةُ ٱلزَّکِیةُ	alssal¡mu `alayki ayyatuh¡ alf¡¤ilatu alzzakiyyatu	Peace be upon you, O virtuous and pure.
اَلسلاَمُ علَیْکِ ایَّتُهَا ٱلْحَوْرَاءُ ٱلإِنْسِیَّةُ	alssal¡mu `alayki ayyatuh¡ al¦awr¡'u al-insiyyatu	Peace be upon you, O Paradisiacal human being.
اَلسلاَمُ عَلَیْکِ ایَّتُهَا ٱلتَّقِیَّةُ ٱلنَّقِیَّةُ	alssal¡mu `alayki ayyatuh¡ alttaqiyyatu alnnaqiyyatu	Peace be upon you, O pious and immaculate.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْکِ ایَّتُهَا ٱلْمُحَدَّثَةُ ٱلْعَلِیمَةُ	alssal¡mu `alayki ayyatuh¡ almu¦addathatu al`al¢matu	Peace be upon you, O one talked by the angels, O knowledgeable.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْکِ ایَّتُهَا ٱلْمَظْلُومَةُ ٱلْمَغْصُوبَةُ	alssal¡mu `alayki ayyatuh¡ alma¨l£matu almagh¥£batu	Peace be upon you, O oppressed lady whose right was usurped.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْکِ ایَّتُهَا ٱلْمُضْطَهَدَةُ ٱلْمَقْهُورَةُ	alssal¡mu `alayki ayyatuh¡ almu¤§ahadatu almaqh£ratu	Peace be upon you, O persecuted and maltreated.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْکِ یَا فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ	alssal¡mu `alayki y¡ f¡§imatu binta ras£li all¡hi	Peace be upon you, O F¡§imah the daughter of the Messenger of Allah.
وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَکَاتُهُ	wa ra¦matu all¡hi wa barak¡tuh£	So be upon you the mercy and blessings of Allah.
صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَیْکِ	¥all¡ all¡hu `alayki	May Allah bless you,
وَعَلَىٰ رُوحِکِ وَبَدَنِکِ	wa `al¡ r£¦iki wa badaniki	your soul, and your body.
اشْهَدُ انَّکِ مَضَیْتِ عَلَىٰ بَیِّنَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّکِ	ashhadu annaki ma¤ayti `al¡ bayyinatin min rabbiki	I bear witness that you have spent your life with full awareness of your duty towards your Lord
وَانَّ مَنْ سَرَّکِ فَقَدْ سَرَّ رَسُولَ ٱللَّهِ	wa anna man sarraki faqad sarra ras£la all¡hi	and (I bear witness) that he who pleases you will have pleased the Messenger of Allah,
صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَیْهِ وَآلِهِ	¥all¡ all¡hu `alayhi wa ¡lih¢	peace be upon him and his Household,
وَمَنْ جَفَاکِ فَقَدْ جَفَا رَسُولَ ٱللَّهِ	wa man jaf¡ki faqad jaf¡ ras£la all¡hi	and he who displeases you will have displeased the Messenger of Allah,
صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَیْهِ وَآلِهِ	¥all¡ all¡hu `alayhi wa ¡lih¢	peace be upon him and his Household,
وَمَنْ آذَاکِ فَقَدْ آذَىٰ رَسُولَ ٱللَّهِ	wa man ¡dh¡ki faqad ¡dh¡ ras£la all¡hi	and he who harms you will have harmed the Messenger of Allah,
صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَیْهِ وَآلِهِ	¥all¡ all¡hu `alayhi wa ¡lih¢	peace be upon him and his Household,
وَمَنْ وَصَلَکِ فَقَدْ وَصَلَ رَسُولَ ٱللَّهِ	wa man wa¥alaki faqad wa¥ala ras£la all¡hi	and he who respects you will have respected the Messenger of Allah,
صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَیْهِ وَآلِهِ	¥all¡ all¡hu `alayhi wa ¡lih¢	peace be upon him and his Household,
وَمَنْ قَطَعَکِ فَقَدْ قَطَعَ رَسُولَ ٱللَّهِ	wa man qa§a`aki faqad qa§a`a ras£la all¡hi	and he who disrespects you will have disrespected the messenger of Allah,
صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَیْهِ وَآلِهِ	¥all¡ all¡hu `alayhi wa ¡lih¢	peace be upon him and his Household.
لانَّکِ بِضْعَةٌ مِنْهُ	li'annaki bi¤`atun minhu	This is because you are an inseparable part of him (i.e. the Holy Prophet),
وَرُوحُهُ ٱلَّذِی بَیْنَ جَنْبَیْهِ	wa r£¦uh£ alladh¢ bayna janbayhi	and you are his soul with which he lives.
اشْهِدُ ٱللَّهَ وَرُسُلَهُ وَمَلاَئِکَتَهُ	ushhidu all¡ha wa rusulah£ wa mal¡'ikatah£	I ask Allah, His Messengers, and His angels to be the witnesses
انِّی رَاضٍ عَمَّنْ رَضِیتِ عَنْهُ	ann¢ r¡¤in `amman ra¤¢ti `anhu	that I am verily pleased with him whomever you accept,
سَاخِطٌ عَلَىٰ مَنْ سَخِطْتِ عَلَیْهِ	s¡khi§un `al¡ man sakhi§ti `alayhi	I am displeased with him whomever you detest,
مُتَبَرِّىٰءٌ مِمَّنْ تَبَرَّاتِ مِنْهُ	matabarri'un mimman tabarra'ti minhu	I disavow him whomever you disavow,
مُوَالٍ لِمَنْ وَالَیْتِ	muw¡lin liman w¡layti	I am loyal to him whomever you support,
مُعَادٍ لِمَنْ عَادِیْتِ	mu`¡din liman `¡dayti	I am the enemy of him whomever you betake as enemy,
مُبْغِضٌ لِمَنْ ابْغَضْتِ	mubghi¤un liman abgha¤ti	I am hateful to him whomever you hate,
مُحِبٌّ لِمَنْ احْبَبْتِ	mu¦ibbun liman a¦babti	and I like him whomever you like.
وَکَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِیداً وَحَسِیباً	wa kaf¡ bill¡hi shah¢dan wa ¦as¢ban	Verily, Allah is Sufficient as Witness, Reckoner,
وَجَازِیاً وَمُثِیباً	wa j¡ziyan wa muth¢ban

? What Is the Hadith of al-Manzilah

The Prophet, upon whom and whose household be blessing, on various occasions, has addressed ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib, upon whom be peace, saying: Your rank in relation to me is that of Aaron in relation to Moses, except that there is no Prophet after me. The Prophet, upon whom and whose household be blessing, has enunciated the foregoing Hadith on the following occasions:

۱-On the Day of Fraternization. [۱]

۲-On the Day of Badr Battle.

۳- On the Day of the Conquest of Khaybar.

۴- On the Day of the Expedition of Tabuk. [۲]

۵- On the Day of the Contest of Prayer (al-Mubahalah).

۶-During the Farewell Pilgrimage.

۷-On the Day of Ghadir Khumm.
