The coming of the Son of man

Matthew 24:15-35

29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken; 30 then will appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory; 31 and he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. 32 "From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates. 34 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away till all these things take place. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but MY WORDs will not pass away.

Today is the 2nd night of Moharram.

On the 2nd day of Moharram, Husayn's caravan reached Kerbala. Thousands of Yazid's soldiers were already there, having arrived long before the Imam.

İmage

The small tribe living in Kerbala gathered around Husayn's caravan. Imam Husayn enquired about the price of the land in Kerbala. He then bought the entire land.

Then, he first spoke to the menfolk of the tribe.

İmage

"O, menfolk of Kerbala! We have not come here to fight. Yazid's soldiers will fight with us and we will be killed. They will not bury our bodies and our bodies will be left to the wild animals of the desert. I request a favour from you. Please, bury our bodies.

İmage

Imam Husayn then turned to the womenfolk of the tribe.

İmage

"Ladies of Kerbala! Your menfolk, out of fear of Yazid's soldiers might not bury our bodies. Ladies! When your men are working in the fields, please come out of your houses and bury our bodies.

İmage

Somehow Imam Husayn did not feel the men nor the women would carry out his request.

İmage

Sadly, he turned to the children who had gathered and spoke gently to them.

Children! If your father or your mother are unable to bury us, I beg you to throw a fistful of sand over our bodies while you are playing in the fields. That way, children, our bodies will slowly get buried."

Then, he turned to everyone who had gathered around and spoke again.

"My second request to you all is to look after the people who will come to visit our graves after our death. They will be my guests so please look after them and feed them for three days."

"HUSAYN! MOHARRAM! KERBALA! ASHURA! MARSHIAS! NAWHAS! TABOOT! ALAM! MASHK! MATAM!"

Ashura day is the most tragic day for all Muslims, in particular Shi'as.

THE DAY OF ASHURA…

The day, when 72 brave and faithful men were martyred… The day of great sacrifice… The day Islam was saved from destruction.
Ashura came to the land of Kerbala.

Yazid's men blew the trumpets to start the battle.

The battle began.

…………..
Allaho Akber! Our poor Imam……..With a thousand wounds…Bleeding…Blood gushing out of the wounds.

…………………..

Hussein said: DeaD iS BeTTeR THaNBRiNGiNG SHaMe aND DiSHoNoR

Shimr, the most evil of Yazid's men, walked to Imam Husayn. He had a big dagger in his hand. Imam made a request to him.' "O Shimr, I know your intention. I beg of you to give me a little time to do two sajdah."

Husayn did the first sajdah on the MUSALLAH OF ARROWS:

"O ALLAH! ALL PRAISE IS TO YOU AND YOU ALONE!"

Husayn lifted his head and went down to perform his second sajdah.

Shimr did not let Imam Husayn lift his head from this last sajdah.

The earth trembled. The sky turned black.

Jibrael cried out:
"HUSAYN HAS BEEN KILLED IN KERBALA!HUSAYN HAS BEEN KILLED IN KERBALA!

As-Sahifa al-Kamilah as-Sayyadiiah

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, addressing a large gathering of faithful Iranians at the mausoleum of the Founder of the Islamic Republic on Thursday, said the Imam Khomeini school of thought was the promising roadmap drawn for the Iranian nation.
Referring to the necessity of dealing with attempts made to portray a wrong image of Imam Khomeini, Ayatollah Khamenei said, “Reviewing the documented principles of the Imam’s school of thought is the only way to tackle attempts [aimed at] distorting the personality of that great [leader]; principles like proving the pure Islam and negation of the American Islam, trust in the authenticity of the divine promise and distrust of the arrogant [powers], trust in people’s will and power and opposition to governmental centralizations, serious support for the poor and opposition to aristocracy, seriously supporting the world’s oppressed and explicit opposition to international bullying [powers], independence and rejection of submission to hegemony, and emphasis on the national unity.”

The Imam's Background

Rouhullah Khomeini was born on the 24th of September 1902. His father was Agha Mustafa Mujtahid Kamareh'i. Rouhullah was the grandson of Sayyid Ahmad, and the great grandson of Deen Ali Shah.

Deen Ali Shah lived in the Khorassan area but due to the civil conflicts among the three tribes: Afshar, Zand and Qajar, he had to leave Khorassan for India. India at that time was a peaceful country, which attracted many immigrants. The main reason behind Ali Shah's departure to India was the advantages Muslims enjoyed in India during that time. India was famous for being peaceful, and we can see this in Saeeb's following saying, who was a famous Persian poet at that time, "All hearts like to go to India."

Sayyid Ahmad, who was Ali Shah's son, was born in India. After a short time, India underwent political turmoil. The Shia, who were in power at the time, lost their authority and the British forces ceased this opportunity and took over. Sayyid Ahmad left India for Iraq in order to free himself of the British rule.

In Iraq, where Shia Imams are buried and their holy shrines are located, Sayyid Ahmad met Yusuf Khan Kamareh'i, who was a pilgrim there. Yusuf Khan invited Sayyid Ahmad to join him in Khomein, and so Sayyid Ahmad entered Khomein before 1825 when Mozzafar al-Deen Shah was in power.

Sayyid Ahmad married Sakina in Khomein. She was the daughter of Mohammad Hassan Baik, also known as Yusuf Khan's sister. They had four children, three daughters and one son. Their daughters were called Sultan, Agha Banoo, and Sahib .Their son's name was Mustafa. Sayyid Ahmad was known to be strict in religious affairs and to defend the weak. His daughter Sahib Khanom, in the words of Ayatollah Passandideh, "inherited the braveness of her father". She took care of her brothers and sisters after losing their father.

Sayyid Ahmad passed away in 1869 in Khomein. His life was full of struggles and hardships. He was buried in Karbala.

Imam Musa Al-Kathim (a.s.) was born in Abwa (a place between Mecca and Madina). It is here that Bibi Amina (Prophet Muhammad's (S.A.W.) mother) is buried. Imam was born when his parents were returning from Mecca. As soon as he was born he did Sajda reciting Kalima and bearing witness to the Imaamate of all the other Imams including his own.

Childhood
He is one of the Imams whose miracles in childhood are reported extensively. Imam Ja'fer As-Sadiq (A.S.) repeatedly pointed out Imam Musa Al-Kathim (a.s.) as his successor because he knew of the people who after his death would differ.
(N.B. The Ismailis say Ismail (Imams eldest son who died whilst Imam Ja'fer Sadiq (a.s.) was still alive) was the 7th Imam. One of the 6th Imam's other sons - Abdullah also claimed Imaamate.) Yaqub Al-Saraaj visited the 6th Imam once who told him to greet
his son Musa who was a week old in his cradle. Imam Musa replied to the salaam and told Yaqub to change his daughters name
(Humayra) as it was a name not liked by Allah.

Imam ‘Ali (a.s) said: Honor your guest even if he is lowly, and stand up for your father and your teacher even if you are a commander.

First, I would like to congratulate - in advance - all the dear brothers and sisters on the birthday anniversary of the Commander of the Faithful (a.s.) who is the manifestation of justice and an outstanding personality throughout history. Also, I express my congratulations on the occasion of the birthday anniversary of Hazrat Jawad al-Aemmah (greetings be upon him) which is today. The blessings of the month of Rajab are not confined to these. I advise myself and you to benefit from the blessings of the month of Rajab by strengthening our heartfelt relationship with Allah the Exalted. If all of us strengthen our relationship with God, many problems, obstacles and difficulties will be removed. I would like to thank the honorable Minister for the good and careful points that he raised in his speech. We agree with what he said. I ask that all officials - in the Ministry of Labor and in other governmental sectors as some of the issues discussed in the meeting are not related to your Ministry - try to pursue these bright guidelines.
